Target Audience:
Target audience is a primary group of people that a magazine or an advertising campaign is aimed at appealing to. An audience can be people of a cretain group i.e. gender, age. Discovering the appropriate target markets to market a product or service is onet of the most important stages involved with market research. Without knowing the target audience, a company's advertising can become very dificult and expensive. Each magazine has it's own specific target audience which is easy to identify just by looking at how the front cover has been designed. Primary magzine is a magazine based on primary school teachers. The text, colour, images, stories have all been chosen to relate to primary school teachers. The stories on the front cover are always put at the top of the magazine in quite demure, plain text and are usually in red. The stories all relate to the lives of teachers. 'What the news schools minister has to say'. The image on the front is that of a teacher, which is appropriate to the target audience as it wouldn't be suitable if it was an image of new fashion trends. The title is always above the image and is in quite bold text. It has all been designed to appeal to teachers. Vogue is a magazine that covers style and upmarket fashion so therefore is aimed at females from the age of 25-54 who love fashion. Everything on the front cover has been chosen to appeal to that target audience. The image on the front cover can either be a model chosen specifically as women may want to be like the model so therefore buy the magazine, or there is a celebrity on the front cover whaich is suitable for the target audience because they want to find out what goes on in the private lives of celdebrities. The sub headings appeal to the target audience because they are all about fashion, and the text is put in bold, bright colours to draw your attention. Everything on a magazines front cover has been specifically chosen to appeal to their target audience.
