This is my fourth draft of my front cover. Like the rest of the drafts the name, place and colour of my front cover are the same, this is the running theme of my magazine. The image is placed on one half of the front cover and the cover lines on the other half. The image takes up exactly half of the cover and it is the image of a group of people playing football on a field. I chose this image as it is fun and an action shot; so instantly that makes the reader feel drawn to the cover and makes them want to read on. The cover lines are placed over the image so the reader can see them easily and so they can encourage the reader to read the rest of the magazine. The barcode an date have been placed underneath the image of the people playing sport.

This is my third draft of my front page. Again the name, place and colour is the same as my other two drafts as the title is my running theme. The image is on the left of the front cover and under the titile. The image is a girl stood in front of a board with maths work on it smiling. This image was chosen because again it is a fun image, and also because there is a student on it; it encourages the reader to read the magazine. The cover lines have been placed on the right of the front cover so they can be seen easily by the reader, also they draw your attention to the front cover. The barcode is under the cover lines so it can be seen easily by the reader and again they can be referred back to quickly.

This is my second rough draft of my front cover. For this draft my name and the position of the name stayed the same, also the colour of my name stayed the same. The image is again taking up most of the front cover, but the image has changed. I chose on this draft to have an image of a group of students sitting round a desk, laughing whilst working as it relates to the type of magazine it is, and the target audience. The image is a happy one and it draws your attention towards the front cover. The cover lines have been placed under the image so the focus is on the photo. Again the stories are relevant to waht students are thinking so that draws them in and makes them appropriate for the target audience. The barcode and date have been placed next to the cover lines.

This is my first rough draft of my front cover, and this is the one I chose to use for my magazine front cover as it is a more conventional magazine layout. I chose to have the image taking up most of the front cover, as the picture is one of the main features of a magazine front cover, and it shows the reader what the magazine is about and who the target audience are. I decided to have an image of a student on the front cover holding a folder as it is appropriate for my target audience. My target audience of students are able to relate to the student on the front cover, and are able to understand students lives; so the image is suitable. The name of my magazine is at the top as it draws your eye in straight away and it is the first thing the reader sees. The name is in electric blue as it is very eye catching, it is also bright, vibrant and fun which is reflected in my target audience. My magazine name 'EXCLAMATION' was chosen because it is quite unusual and no other magazine is called that. The cover lines were placed over the image as they are also one of the main factors of a magazine cover; and they are what encourages the reader to but the magazine. The stories I chose were all relevant to what is going on in a students life so they are appropriate to the target audience. The barcode and date are placed under the image so the readers can refer back to the front cover if they need to.

This is my mock up front cover. The title will be Exclamation! and I have put it at the top as it draws your attention. The title will be in electric blue as it is very bright and vibrant which is what I am aiming for in my target audience. The image will be under the selling line and will be a picture of a girl holding a book and looking down at it. This is relevant to the type of magazine it is and the target audience. The cover lines will be on the right underneath the title and the barcode and date will be underneath it.
